Do you love spending time outdoors with your pets? Don't forget to check them for ticks!
Pet owners should check their pets for ticks daily, especially after spending time outdoors. If you do find a tick on your dog or cat, don't panic! These tips will help you get rid of the tick quickly and safely at home.
How to Remove Ticks:
- Keep Your Pet Calm- Before you remove the tick, you want to make sure that your pet feels calm and comfortable.
- Find a Pair of Tweezers- Fine tipped tweezers are the most effective at removing ticks.
- Grasp the Tick - Grasp the tick with the tweezers as close to the surface of your pet's skin as possible. Then, pull upward with steady, even pressure. Try to avoid twisting or jerking motions - this can make it difficult to remove the entire tick. If the tick does break off, remove the rest with clean tweezers.
- Clean the Area - After the tick has been removed, clean the area with soap and water or rubbing alcohol.
