There are many types of emergencies that can happen with your dog, but the list below shows the top 10 from last year:
- Chocolate, xylitol, grapes/raisins
- Insecticides
- Mouse and rat poison (rodenticides)
- NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen and naproxen
- Household cleaners
- Antidepressants, such as Prozac, Paxil, Celexa and Effexor
- Fertilizers including bone meal, blood meal and iron-based products
- Acetaminophen, such as Tylenol, and cough/cold medications
- Amphetamines such as Adderall and Concerta
- Veterinary pain relievers including Rimadyl, Dermaxx and Previcox
Try to keep all harmful things up in a cabinet away from your pets. They sometimes wiggle their way into things and you don't want them to get a hold of anything that can harm them! It's a painful experience to watch your dog go through this, and with preventative measures, you can avoid it!
