A couple of apes at the National Zoo have an expensive
new toy to play with, iPads! Orangutans at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo are
now using apps on iPads to keep busy throughout their day!
The orangutans are using 10 different apps that include
drawing activities, cognitive games and apps that use virtual musical instruments!
“Apps for Apes” is a conservation Orangutan Outreach program which helped
provide the apes with iPads.
Currently, there are only a few tens of thousands orangutans left in the wild. They are mostly found in the Sumatran rain forest
and the Borneo rain forest, in which they are both endangered.
